Upon disembarking, our expert mountain guides will greet you and begin a one-hour hike. The route follows the lake shore and then the lateral moraine (rocky and earthen terrain) alongside the glacier, providing physical and visual preparation before stepping onto the ice. This section alone sets it apart in terms of distance and difficulty compared to the traditional tour.
Extended Ice Exploration: 6 km Challenge!
Upon reaching the edge of the glacier, next to the beautiful Cascada de las Cotorras (Parrot Waterfall), you will receive your equipment: crampons and helmets. The experience is highly personalized, with a maximum of one guide for every 10 passengers. The hike on the glacier lasts approximately one hour, and the circuit is of medium to high difficulty. The pace is steady, and the surface, although uneven, is firm. In total, you will cover approximately 6 km on terrain of rocks, earth, and ice with crampons—twice the distance of the standard Minitrekking!
A Frozen Paradise of Cracks and Lagoons
You'll explore the glacier's breathtaking, ever-changing formations: deep crevasses, blue sinkholes, enormous seracs, and turquoise lagoons. Immersed in a World Heritage Site, you'll hear only the sound of your crampons digging into the ice. After the glacier hike, we'll visit the base of the waterfall and begin our return journey.
Return and Panoramic Views on the Footbridges
We'll return along the lateral moraine to Puma Bay to re-embark for Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, remaining vigilant for a possible dramatic icefall. The complete tour from El Calafate lasts approximately 10 hours and includes a 1-hour visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways, where you can enjoy an unparalleled panoramic view. If you choose to go independently, the round trip from the port takes 5 hours.
Passengers without a transfer must arrive punctually at Puerto Bajo Las Sombras, and we recommend arriving early to explore the walkways on your own and then head to the port to begin the navigation and ice trekking. The option of adding the transfer is available more than 7 days before the selected date.

Minitrekking 2“A wonderful experience, and we were so happy to do it with Vicky and Nico, who shared their love for this incredible place with us! The Minitrekking 2 is fantastic, it's pricey, and it was a tough decision to make, especially since we're a family, but it was an unforgettable experience, and the service was impeccable! We did it early, leaving us the afternoon to explore the park's walkways—a real treat!“
“Excellent service! Very attentive and punctual, excellent guides, and great excursions. Fun and practical for relaxing and enjoying yourself! I want to highlight the excellent and friendly communication skills of our mini-trekking guide, Abril! It was a pleasure listening to her throughout the entire experience. Highly recommended. Thank you!“
“Excellent! We did the mini-trek on October 20, 2025, starting from the port. The boat, the crew, the guides, and the people at the shelters were all excellent. Anahí and Nico were both wonderful guides. The excursion is excellent, and the service from everyone, from day one, was magnificent. Thank you!“
